Around the world there are also several cases in which inventors have had problems because people and companies have tried to steal their inventions. Are there any known such cases in Indonesia as well?

It seems a lot of people from Indonesia are already following Innovators' Resistance on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/InnovationVictimsAlliance)

Today the FB-page had the following post:

“It's safe to steal inventions” - Dagens Nyheter p. 16, Sweden 2013 July 21

"According to some prominent inventors and scientists DN has spoken to it is safe to steal patents and the legislation needs to be strengthened. The inventors are backed by Marianne Levin, professor of intellectual property law, who also states that the law should be changed.

Already in 2008, a number of researchers and inventors spoke out and demanded that the government should act to strengthen patent rights and protect individual inventors. In the beginning of July of this year there was a renewed proclamation, signed by Nobel laureate Arvid Carlsson and prominent inventors such as Anders Widgren, Håkan Lans, Johan Ullman and others.

The inventors, who also created the Facebook page "Innovators’ resistance" with over 1,000 followers, are of the opinion that the Swedish Patent Act should be strengthened, that the law is not fully utilized and that the prosecution should be investigating the crimes. The inventors are right in that the industrial rights should also fall under public prosecution on the same terms as copyright, says Marianne Levin.

The entrepreneur, physician and inventor Johan Ullman, who considers himself having lost substantial value when venture capital firm emptied and took over his company, believes that a lot of jobs could have been created in Sweden from inventions that were instead stolen in criminal operations by the unscrupulous.

- The method they use is called "Kill the inventor" and it ends with the inventor, through a variety of arrangements, having lost both his patents and his personal finances. As individual inventors we cannot manage to defend ourselves in extensive civil litigation. In my case, which concerned an invention that was valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, I lost everything and suddenly owed the counterparty hundreds of thousands of dollars. I seriously considered committing suicide, says Johan Ullman.

The inventor and research manager Anders Widgren tells a similar story in which he claims that several companies and people have been trying to get to his inventions in illegal ways.
- It has involved illegal threats as well as various types of fraud to make me become insolvent so I would be forced to hand over my ideas, says Anders Widgren."
